As a hermit, I've noticed that it's very difficult to share humour across the species barrier.

Lil_Earthwoman,
I think you might be right about the anthropomorphizing. The flaw in my argument is that native African people are also seriously into nature spirits. Of course lots of their magical entities can change at will from animal to human, so you never know exactly what you're meeting. (Perhaps I need to examine my mongooses more closely!)

Elva,
Thanks for your encouragement. If I get faeries in the bathroom I'll let you know.Mainly mongoose (Lynda)http://mainlymongoose.blogspot.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-767913719381352936.post-73507824841809679582011-06-19T02:40:27.165+02:002011-06-19T02:40:27.165+02:00Murderous snakes, frogs for friends, and now faeri...Murderous snakes, frogs for friends, and now faeries in the bush. So incredible wonderful written, an unmitigated little ode to the secret spirit of nature.
Maybe there is still another reason for the need of magical entities: our drive to anthropomorphize. I always thougt the adorable little duikers are not from this world ;-)

Heartwarming view onto the miracle of nature, beautiful photos, and oh, I so love the little bushbuck baby, and Snail's comment on its face.
Thank you, Lynda!Lil_Earthwomanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08364224231811958467noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-767913719381352936.post-54559933229968862352011-06-18T05:05:00.340+02:002011-06-18T05:05:00.340+02:00What luck --- for all concerned!
