The mongooses are scared of rhinos.
I'm ...Jane,
The mongooses are scared of rhinos.
I'm forever finding rhino footprints up on their termite mounds (why?), which isn't an endearing trait from a mongoose's perspective.

It's very handy that they're such wimps because they retreat from the area when they detect a rhino (and they recognise it long before I do) so I don't have to keep watch for rhinos when walking with them.mainly mongoose (Lynda)https://www.blogger.com/profile/05917384766182752791noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-767913719381352936.post-31207172443847708122010-06-09T09:42:13.752+02:002010-06-09T09:42:13.752+02:00Max-e,

There were four of us. The two up front were about 50 metres, walking flat out and heads down to get back to the base.
I then noticed that they were about to collide with a very agitated black rhino.
I very casually called out to then that it may be a good idea to stop. "Why? came back the reply.
"Because you are about to walk into a rhino," I said.
The response was a string of expletives that amounted to, "Stop lying."
"Suit yourselves," I replied.
They then turned back on the trail and that was when they saw the Rhino - almost within touching distance.
They rhino took of in one direction and they took off in the other. It was not long before they were behind me, cursing me for not warning them "properly".
"But I did," I said.
There is never a dull moment in the bush.

Thanks for the information about the frogs. That certainly explains their demise.Max-ehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01262963488938958848noreply@blogger.com
